Mablethorpe Sand Racing 28/10/07

For the Ride Out to Mablethorpe's Sand Racing, 7 members turned up on a damp windy early Sunday morning 0800 for 0830 depart.  Richard our star Navigator lead the way with Karl, Martin, Pete & Kate, Tim and Paul marking the rear; we left Mc Donalds around 0845.  The wind wasn't marking it a very pleasant ride, and the roads were a little damp, at the corner just before 'Drakeholes' Martin had a low speed spill on the corners wet shiny surface.  Luckily the Bike decided to deposit Martin on the nice 'Soft Wet Grass' where he rolled to a stop, once we made sure he was ok we picked his bike up out of the road.  Rest assured Martin was fine apart from a few bruises and a damaged pride!  His bike how ever is another matter....sadly, as with any faired bike it's always going to be costly to repair after a spill no matter how small.
Whilst waiting with Martin for the recovery truck Richard invented a novel use for the Helmet Bag when it started to rain, be advised NOT to rush in with a 'Patent' for this Rich........
With this Tim tried to top Richard's hat with his BMW one, but Paul kept making the odd BMW Driver remarks, this was all taken with the jest it was meant.  Once the recovery truck arrived we helped to place the bike safely on the recovery truck.  It was decided that the ride should good on so we set off once again to Mablethorpe.  With the spill fresh in everyone's mind and the strong side winds on open stretches the pace was slow and steady and we arrived at Mablethorpe just after 1100.
We found a place to sit on the steps leading down to the beach, where we chatted and watched the racers tearing along the track.  There was plenty to see with a full range of bikes and quads to the age and experience of their riders.

After watching a few races the group went for some Fish and Chips at the sea front.......Sorry Lisa, you missed out this time!! (Unfortunately Lisa couldn't make it on this ride out) BUT Paul being Paul took a photo for her to see.  We then returned to the steps and to the shelter of the 'shops in between the showers (Not even the Clouds could make there mind up at times).

As Mentioned above my hat (Helmet) has to come off to all these lads and ladies, thou some to me really stood out on the day.  None more perhaps then the young boys and girls on there bikes where some of the puddles and ruts that where forming where bigger than the bikes themselves they still went out there and had a good time (Well done to you and to you all. See you next time)
