Thou the Expected turn out was far more than 3 from the Three Shires, Richard, Paul and Lisa had a great time enjoyed the riding and company. Big thanks to the East Midlands (especial Alan) who came up a few weeks ago to invite our branch on the Roast. Speaking of the Venue Black Horse Inn was Fantastic, Friend efficient staff with food that was so well cooked and presented I would advice anyone to drop in for a Sunday Lunch if there anywhere near it (Best Sunday Lunch I've had out in YEARS) You will most likely need to book as I didn't see a single table that wasn't reserved . It was wonderful to meet you all and thank you East Midlands for a great day out. Black Horse Inn, Hulland Ward, Derbyshire, DE6 3EE 01335 370206

Last Rideout of 07 “How about last ride o t’ year” shouts John Awty, So we all agreed, to turn up on t’ Sunday, We all new it might be cold, But we all said, “Eye but we’re not old”. So Sunday morn, bright an early, I got up and dressed, not so churly, It was cold but frost couldn’t be found, Off I set’s for a ride I’ll be bound… Just before the off I set E-mails I thought I’d check, Sure enough, some back out, Maybe they aren’t that stout. On turning up at Blacksmiths Arm Surprised I am to be all alone, Not even stalwarts to be found, No Pete & Jordan, nor Richard’s sound, Two more turn up to ride to Squires, Just three men then, three esquires, After only 5 and 20 miles, We all agree, it’s not that mild. Stopping off at Thorne for Tea, We take this thankful opportunity, To warm our body’s feet and hands, We look out at the frozen ponds. At Squires café, we duly arrive, We help ourselves to a meal and skive, While blood circulates though flesh and bones We decide to head for our homes. In retrospect we shamed our mates, But really, I think we wished we’d stayed, In bed with loved ones for cuddles and kisses With toasty feet these were our wishes. So when Awty John say’s “Want a ride out”? Take stock of the weather and then say nowt, In December it’s to cold to dilly dally, Wait for February ant’ bloody ‘S NO Rally…. Please View for latest offers and details. Trial at Dusty Miller - Barlborough With 9 Member's at the Dusty Miller to cast a look over this proposed venue; it was thought of as a lovely pub with restaurant quality fixtures and fittings, a nice place for a Sunday Meal. Saying this it does raise doubt's on some issues including the price of some drinks and the ability to use the pub during the Christmas period with events being booked etc, also would it be suitable in poor weather with bikers turning up like drowned rats into such a well turned out Pub/Restaurant. The general location of the Dusty Miller and ample parking make it an attractive possible venue and will be discussed further at next Mondays meeting back at the Traveller's Chapeltown. Trial at Blacksmiths - Renishaw After other meeting issues were discussed, it was decided we should all pay a visit to our first meeting place back in 1998, as it was only just down the road and under new management. So we dropped in unannounced into the Blacksmiths for a quick recce. Upon opening the door the landlord Carl greeted us with a warm and friendly 'Good Evening' making us feel most welcome. After being served we took our seats and had a club chat about the Blacksmiths, finding it a well turned out pub with friendly welcoming landlord and locals many of whom remember us from 9 years ago; with it's period features of low ceilings and beams making it very pleasing to the eye...top tip: Its hard on the head for us taller bikers, if we ain't careful! With the ability to use the local field as a venue for our rally's and the landlord willing to place a few sandwich's out for our meetings this makes a strong contender for our search of possible venues. Chairman Derek, and the Three Shires 'Wine Expert' also commented on the quality of his Pint!!! saying " It was the best pint of bitter he had tasted in many years". So even if you are not a member of Three Shires why not Try a Pint yourself as you pass by next time. |
